These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tillo point-of-sale application for Android ("Tillo", "the app", "we", "us", "our"), published on Google Play by TSolutions DWC LLC under the package name com.tsolution.smartpos. By downloading, installing or using Tillo you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
In short. Tillo is free to use, with an optional Tillo Pro subscription bought through Google Play, which you can cancel at any time in Google Play. Your shop's data stays on your phone and we hold no copy of it, so keeping backups is up to you. Tillo is a tool that helps you run your shop; the records, taxes and receipts of your business remain your responsibility.
1The service
Tillo lets a shop sell products, record how each sale was paid, print or share receipts, keep track of products, prices and stock, and see reports of its sales — all from a phone, with or without an internet connection. How Tillo handles information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
We may change, add or remove features of Tillo over time, and may suspend or discontinue the app. If we discontinue Tillo Pro, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can, and you will not be charged for any renewal after it is discontinued.
2Who can use Tillo
Tillo has no account or sign-up. It is a tool for running a business, and you must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement in your country to use it or to buy Tillo Pro. Tillo is not directed to children under 13.
If you use Tillo on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these Terms for that business. Anyone you let use Tillo on your phone, such as staff, uses it under your responsibility.
3Free plan and Tillo Pro
Free plan
Tillo is free to download and use. The free plan limits how many products a shop can add, and some features are available only with Tillo Pro. The current limits and features are shown in the app.
The plan never stops you selling. Selling, receipts and the products and sales you already have keep working on the free plan, including after a Tillo Pro subscription ends.
Tillo Pro subscriptions
- Purchase. Tillo Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription (for example monthly or yearly) through Google Play. The price, billing period and any free trial are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm.
- Payment. All payments are processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card or bank details.
- Renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period and is charged to your Google Play payment method, unless you cancel it before the renewal date.
- Free trials. If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel before it ends, the subscription starts and you are charged automatically.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions. Uninstalling Tillo does not cancel a subscription. After cancelling, Tillo Pro stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policies. This does not affect any right to a refund or to withdraw from a purchase that you have under the law of your country.
- Price changes. If the price of a subscription changes, Google Play will notify you before the new price applies, and you can cancel before it does.
- Restoring. A subscription belongs to the Google account that bought it. Use Restore purchase in the app to use it on a new phone signed in to the same Google account.
Tillo Pro is checked with Google Play from time to time when your phone is online. If the check cannot be made because the phone is offline, Tillo Pro keeps working for a short grace period; Tillo Pro ends only when Google Play reports that the subscription is no longer active.
4Your shop's data and backups
Everything you enter in a shop set up on the phone — its details, products, prices, stock, sales and staff — is stored only on that phone. You own that data. We do not receive it, cannot see it and hold no copy of it, which means we cannot recover it for you.
Uninstalling Tillo, clearing its storage, or losing or breaking the phone permanently erases the shop unless you have a backup. Make backups regularly with Tillo's backup feature and keep them somewhere other than the phone. Backup files are not encrypted, so store them somewhere private.
Restoring a backup replaces everything currently in Tillo on that phone with the contents of the backup.
5Your business records
Tillo calculates totals, tax, discounts, change, stock levels, profit and reports from the prices, costs, tax settings and other information you enter. You are responsible for:
- checking that the information you enter, including prices, cost prices and tax settings, is correct;
- keeping the business records, issuing the receipts or invoices, and paying the taxes that the law where you trade requires;
- confirming that Tillo's receipts and records meet any rules that apply to you, such as fiscal or e-invoicing requirements.
Tillo is not accounting, tax or legal advice, and it is not certified as a fiscal cash register in any country.
Tillo does not process payments. When a sale is marked as paid by card or wallet, Tillo only records how the customer paid; taking the payment is done outside Tillo, with whatever card terminal or wallet service you use.
6Businesses on the SmartPOS back office
The version of Tillo on Google Play cannot connect to the SmartPOS back office. A business that wants the back office arranges it with us directly, and the tills we set up for it are used on behalf of that business: their products, settings and staff come from the business's account, and the business decides how the data in it is used. Use of the back office and of those tills is also subject to the separate agreement between that business and us, which prevails over these Terms where the two differ.
7Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Tillo for anything unlawful, including to record false sales, evade tax, or sell goods that are illegal where you trade;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of Tillo, except where the law expressly allows it;
- get around, or try to get around, the free plan's limits or Tillo Pro's subscription checks;
- interfere with or damage Tillo or any service it connects to.
8Other services
Tillo works with services provided by others: Google Play for downloads and subscriptions, RevenueCat for verifying subscriptions, Google ML Kit for reading barcodes, Bluetooth printers you pair yourself, and the apps you choose when you share a receipt. Their own terms and policies apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for how they work or for their availability.
9Intellectual property and your licence
Tillo, including its software, design, name and logo, belongs to TSolutions DWC LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install Tillo and use it to run your business, in line with these Terms and the Google Play terms of service. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
10Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, Tillo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We work to keep Tillo reliable and its calculations correct, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will work with every phone, printer or scanner, or that it will meet every legal requirement where you trade.
11Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TSolutions DWC LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data — including the loss of a shop's data that was not backed up — arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, Tillo.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Tillo is limited to the amount you paid for Tillo Pro in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or takes away any rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.
12Ending your use
You can stop using Tillo at any time by uninstalling it; remember to cancel any Tillo Pro subscription in Google Play and to keep a backup if you want your data. We may suspend or end your licence to use Tillo if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. Sections 4, 5, 10, 11 and 14 continue to apply after your use ends.
13Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Tillo changes. The new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and material changes will be noted in the app where appropriate. Continuing to use Tillo after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
14Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which TSolutions DWC LLC is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you use Tillo as a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts there.
